Understanding Family Estrangement Workshop
April 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
In this 60 minute workshop, we will delve into the complex, often painful and tabooed reality of family estrangement. Family ties are traditionally seen as unbreakable bonds, yet for many, estrangement becomes a necessary path for personal well-being. This presentation explores the emotional landscape of those who make the difficult decision to distance themselves, as well as the profound impact on those who find themselves unexpectedly on the receiving end of estrangement.
Through a compassionate and trauma informed lens, we examine the reasons behind the choice of estrangement, the possible myriad of emotions both parties experience, and the potential avenues for healing and reconciliation. My aim is to provide a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play, offering insights into the psychological and emotional aspects that drive families apart and what it takes to bridge the gap—or healthily move forward—when possible and desired by both parties.
